Young Lions Earth First!

In solidarity with the campaign in Europe against the TENS on 30th March, seventeen activists from Young Lions Earth First! occupied the blasting site of a quarry in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The quarry is owned by Murray and Roberts, the biggest road construction company in the country. The quarry was occupied for three days until a private security company called the Springboks, who are mainly ex-members of the South African Defence Force and the Police, forcibly removed them, breaking one of the activists noses as they did so. They are planning more actions in the future, and in case you were wondering about the name, one of the people from Young Lions Earth First! explains, “We use the name Young Lions as this was the name we were known by during the struggle against apartheid. Now that we have won this struggle, we remain comrades in the struggle to liberate the earth”.
