The Reclaim the Valleys actions were great fun. People returned to Selar for it’s anniversary and haven’t left, with two new sites having been set up there. There were actions on the offices of the County Council and 14 people hung off slag heaps with ‘Open cast my arse’ written on their bottoms - postcards available soon! A squat was taken for the week in Swansea and two bailiffs turned up to evict one hundred squatters but left again very quickly. They will be keeping pressure on throughout the summer and re-eviction from Selar seems very likely to be sooner rather than later. With at least another eighteen sites that need inhabiting they are proud to be opening the new estate agency at the Earth First! Gathering, and they hope to see everybody there. As these sites are widely spread, with distances between most, anything up to thirty miles, there is a desperate need for CB’s and aerials.
