Wivenhoe Carnival

100 people gathered for a ‘carnival against the crop’ at Sunny mead Farm, Wivenhoe, Essex on June 30th. Six people were arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage after entering one of the two maize trail fields on the farm. They were later bailed without charge. There has been determined and inspiring local opposition to GE in Wivenhoe. Just three days earlier, on June 27th, Six women and five men were acquitted at Harwich magistrates on a technicality, after damaging a 4 hectare Aventis maize crop on the same farm in June last year.
