Mink Farm Victory

Cornyhaugh Mink Farm near Newcastle announced it was closing last week after a three and a half year, high-profile, campaign by Newcastle AR Coalition. They persevered through an intensive campaign: investigations, protests, public meetings, harassment trials, police hassle, violence by farmer and workers, and with little support from activists outside the area. The determination of this campaign should be encouraging to other activists. Different tactics work in different situations and in this case they achieved the desired aim: farm closure.
