Blackpool Emergency! 30 Days In Occupation
The Leys Farm and Allotments Action group in Blackpool are fighting to save their site from 'development'. It is a mixed area of open land and personal allotments. Their third application to have the site designated as a Town Green has been accepted.
However, Barratts still moved in with the buldozers and razed most of the wooded area to the ground. Defenders are sitting on the site ( and have been in occupation for over thirty days!) but are urgently in need of others to stay as well. Most have jobs and are no longer young and are beginning to feel the strain.
Eviction notices have been given. There's a county court appearance on the 9th June, with hopes for a favourable outcome. People are needed to occupy the site as long as possible while the process of town green application is going through.
