The Modem Is Mightier Than The Sword
An electronic protest against the Daily Mail and London Evening Standard was a great success, with the Daily Mail letters editor saying they had received over 1,000 e-mails complaining about their coverage of asylum seekers, which has been stirring up racism and fuelling hostility towards refugees. The Guardian reported that “Management at the paper have been rattled by the hostile response from readers over its asylum rantings.” The first batch of e-mails got a standard response but as the protest grew both papers began to send snotty replies! They also had to contend with a protest of around 100 people outside their offices on the 13th April with constant chanting ("Daily Mail - Hate Mail, Evening Standard - racist standards"). Future protests are planned.
