The action was carried out because the John Lewis Partnership, who own Waitrose, kill British wildlife on their shooting estate in Hampshire. Simon Jones was killed at Shoreham Docks in 1998 when forced to do dangerous casual work he wasn’t trained for. His family has won a High Court battle forcing the Director of Public Prosecutions to reconsider his dodgy decision not to bring corporate manslaughter charges against Simon’s employers. Members of Voices in the Wilderness have gone on a sanctions-breaking mission to Iraq. They will be carrying medical equipment, medical journals and toys for delivery to children’s hospitals. On April Fool’s Day a laugh-in took place at the naval base near Faslane Peace Camp, Helensburgh, Scotland. Around 100 people in fancy dress laughed at workers on their way into the base, as well as doing April Fool actions like ‘cutting’ the fence with plastic tools. The police even joined in, telling campers that the base was moving to America, and asking if the peace camp would follow!
