Faslane Update
At the ‘Torch Trident’ party and actions on 5th November, there was a beautiful sunny day. A tripod was set up to block the South Gate road, while the North Gate was also blocked by 2 people locking on to one of the base buses. Music played, a picnic was had under the tripod and the base traffic was blocked for about 3 hours. There were 14 arrested and held in until Monday.
Trident Ploughshares activists gathered for a weekend disarmament camp at Coulport on 15th November Trident Ploughshares ‘Crimestoppers’ prevented workers entering Coulport for over an hour. There were 13 arrests, mostly for Breach of the Peace.
Meanwhile in late November the convoy of trucks which transport nuclear warheads between Coulport and Reading was stopped for 23 minutes at Balloch roundabout. One person locked on while a ranting priest climbed on top and warned the world about the dangers of nuclear weapons. The Grim Reaper, who also attended, reports that there were 8 arrests.
