Arthurs Wood Loses Appeal
The appeal to the House of Lords over Manchester Airport's eviction of the camps at Arthur's wood has been thrown out this month, leaving the camps on eviction alert. However, it is not known whether the airport will wait to evict until after the bird nesting season finishes in September. If they come in before this, the campaign intends to bring a private prosecution against the airport. Nevertheless, a call has gone out for more people to come and stay, or just visit if they can. If you want to be on a phone tree then ring Manchester EF! on 0161 2266814. Meanwhile the airport is attempting to become designated a 'major development site', which will make it much easier for them to get future terminals, etc. through the planning system.
