Critical Clampdown
It seems that Norwich Critical Mass has just got a bit too critical. Now attracting 50+ cyclists, April's event had an excellent atmosphere with, as would be hoped at these spontaneous cycling happenings, cyclists taking control and defining the event as it happens.
The ride was marred by aggressive policing. Police handed out written warnings at the start of the ride. Within 10 minutes of setting off a cyclist near the front of the crowd pulled in to the pavement to wait for the others to catch up. He was immediately tackled from his bike, arrested for obstruction, sustaining injuries severe enough to require hospital attention.
Critical Mass will continue, meet 2pm St. Peter Mancroft Church, by the old Library car park, Norwich, Last Saturday of each month.
