Party Line - Tube Reclaimed

The latest London RTS action against tube privatisation and in support of tube workers saw 800-1000 people reclaiming a Circle Line train. As various small groups joined the party at each station, the train was decorated with notices saying ‘This line is under joint passenger-worker control’ and music played; techno in one carriage, acoustic in another. However, years of dealing with football hooligans had made the police well prepared for this sort of situation, and they kept doors shut at stations until eventually shepherding everyone onto a Northern Line train to join the pro-cannabis ‘Mayday is j-day’ festival in Brixton. So the aim of making a complete circuit was thwarted, but it was felt to be a good action anyway.
