Butts Water Meadow Reprieve

Plans to take action were called off on Tuesday when a judicial review judged that Green King Breweries had been wrong in not conducting an independent environmental assessment over their plans to build an access road across Butts Meadow, Bury St. Edmonds.

The decision means Green King will have to start again and reapply for planning permission, which they may not do. The Meadow was host to a protest camp last year, this was evicted in March, at which time trees were illegally felled. Two people were recently fined after prosecution under trade union laws during the protest.
