News In Brief

* Anarchists and EF!ers in the Czech Republic are appealing for help to defend themselves against a fascist attack on May 1st. This date has in Prague, as in many other places, been a day of anarchist activity for many years but this year fascists from all over Europe are planning to stop it, threatening to burn all anarchist squats and rid the Czech Republic of anarchism. * March 11th. A genetically modified potato crop in New Zealand was destroyed by a group called Wild Greens, The research project, worth $200,000 was ruined. Sadly the activists discarded gloves and clothes at the scene and DNA samples were taken. Greenpeace NZ put out a media release condemning the attack. Subsequently, security on GE sites in the country has been stepped up Wild Greens website: http://www.econation.org.nz/.

* Corporate Watch have produced a guide to the involvement of the oil industry in British universities price L10-20. See contact list.

* Wild Things; ecological education collective, are looking for a new member. They teach radical ecology and tell direct action stories to children and work with groups to empower them to work non hierarchically and take direct action. * Fifty farmers in Russia, while defending their land against a pipeline from the Yamal Peninsula, charged 30 police with scythes and a tractor. The police opened fire with plastic, and real bullets, injuring the tractor driver in the leg.

* Faslane Peace Camp is still going strong with currently 7 residents. Unfortunately, the latest action, scheduled for equinox, did not happen due to a lack of people attending. The next submarine arrival, and therefore action, is expected in early April. Contact 01463 820 901.
