Bulldozers Banished At Toytown

The camp at Toytown, set up to defend one of Cheltenham's local green spaces from a Waitrose supermarket, closed down a few months ago but the campaign continues.

Direct action is sometimes surprisingly little effort. On learning that the council were coming to level the site, five people came down to try and stop work. They climbed on the bulldozers and said to the drivers "Go away and take your machinery with you". And to everyone's surprise they did!

As far as the campaign knows, there are no immediate plans for the bulldozers to reappear, but if and when they do, people will take the same action again.
