Agro-chemical Action

On March 22nd, 10 people breached the perimeter of the Rhone Poulenc factory in Norfolk, and were almost immediately arrested on suspicion of criminal damage to the perimeter fence. Twelve people outside displayed a banner reading 'Hazard' and gave out leaflets to workers and passers by.

The factory is mainly concerned with the production of agro-chemicals, including the world's supply of bromoxynil, a chemical which is so toxic that it is illegal to use it the EU and the USA, but which is exported for use in the third world.

Rhone Poulenc is a French based multinational which is also heavily involved in genetic engineering. One of its subsidiary companies is involved in genetically engineering cotton to be resistant to bromoxynil!
