Ferrari Blockade

Birmingham Critical Mass Bike Action attempted to enter the city centre Ferrari Motor Car Showroom. After a traffic calming ride, the group made its way - followed by a police van - to the prestigious showroom for a planned "Tea Party Knees-Up", only to find its entrance doors locked and guarded by two large men. They said that all Brum car showrooms had been warned of an action. So we laid the table-cloth on the pavement by the window, donned party hats and tucked into cake, biscuits and squash, inviting the police officers to join the party. Entertainment was sing-a-long tunes from the Little Nora bike-mounted system. In the local papers, a spokesman for the Retail Motor Industry Federation also provided entertainment with an amusing quote: "The car has been the most important invention of this century in terms of giving people liberty. The motor industry is not selfish & is concerned about giving people choice."
