G8 Actions Coming Up
This May (15th - 17th) heads of state of the eight most industrialised countries will converge on Birmingham to discuss globalisation. They will be joined by the leaders of the World Bank, the UN, IMF and World Trade Organisation (WTO). Although the meeting has no policy making structure it defines issues that will set global agendas and dominate economic thinking for the coming year. After Birmingham the G8 posse will fly to Geneva to sign the latest offering of neo-liberal 'free' trade from the WTO.
Global Days of Action are planned during the G8 summit - raising key social and ecological issues and challenging the right of the G8 to take decisions that affect the world. To join the activists descending upon Birmingham watch this space.
