Faslane Solstice Shenannigans

On 22nd December protestors halted traffic going into Faslane Naval base for 1.5 hours during the Faslane Peace Camp 'Breach of the Peace?' action. Over 30 people took to the road, locked on, sang, fire danced and chanted. The street party led to a traffic jam several miles long which delayed Strathclyde Constabulary's arrival on the scene for some time!

The action was called to highlight the hypocrisy of New Labour who are going to cut benefits to single parents yet still see fit to spend billions on Trident, the most horrific tool of genocide yet created.

Initially the action was more a continuation of the Camp's Solstice Party, but the atmosphere was soon ruined by the police mishandling of the situation. MoD Police became violent and several protestors were hurt while locked-on as the police attempted to lift them. Only one arrest was made.
