There is now a Peace camp at the Alvis arms factory in Coventry which, amongst other things, builds tanks for Indonesia. Evidence exists of these tanks being used in internal repression and human rights abuses. The Peace camp is holding regular events of prayer and meditation every Sunday and music nights every Thursday. The new residents also hope to make a Garden of Hope, banners and doves of peace. On the 16th July, GroenFront started their first ever action camp in Ruigoord, Netherlands, in an ‘alternative’ squat village in a nature rich area. Police are seeking a “serial arsonist” after a series of attacks on a McDonalds restaurant in Wyboston in Bedfordshire. The most recent fire totally destroyed McDonalds.

On 10th August around 100 people decided to have a picnic on the field which serial SSSI trasher Farmer Palmer wants to plough up next. The peaceful picnic took place to raise the profile of the campaign and to keep the pressure up on Michael Meacher, Minister for the Environment. Further picnics are planned soon. Contact Justice? The residents of Taliesin, a small village in mid Wales, population approximately 200, were fed up with the tourist traffic passing through. The local vicar, inspired by Reclaim The Streets actions, organised a party in the streets, stopping traffic all day. Who says RTS only happened in the city?
A database is being set up of facial images from passport photos which will result in a searchable archive of 35-40 million people. This is allegedly to combat passport fraud but coincidentally several companies are well on their way to developing technology that could match digitised passport images with photos from existing police databases and CCTV cameras
