Ashton Court Quarry

Ashton Court is a public park on the western edge of Bristol which was bought for the people by the City Council in 1959. 20 acres of this public parkland have now been leased to Australian multinational Pioneer Aggregates so that they can expand their Durnford Quarry. Planning permission has been granted despite significant opposition from local residents. Work is expected to start in September or October: an action is planned for 26th August - meet 8am at the quarry entrance (Longwood Lane, Long Ashton). Contact (0117) 942 0129
