A Million Toilets Occupied

A camp was set up on a proposed ball clay quarry extension at Teigngrace near Newton Abbot. The quarry, owned by the Watts Blake Beame (WBB) group wants to provide raw materials for toilets, washbasins and tiles. Although the project is on hold because of a potential public enquiry, the camp was served with a possession order and will be in court on the 29th of August. If the project goes ahead, about 1 km of each of the rivers Bovey and Teign will be di- verted, affecting an area containing numerous protected species including otters, kingfishers, bats and rare fish species.
