Shoreham

On 16th May this year we attempted to 'combine the issues, confront industry'. By inviting the relevant malcontented single issue groups like anti-timber and animal rights to stand together and "shut down the port". Come the morning there were 60 of us and 800 of them. The police were anticipating an animal rights demo, and it was reported that 9 AR houses were raided over Shoreham, spreading hopeless paranoia. Realising we were not quite ready to take on modern civilisation in its entirety that day, we considered our options then sat in the sunshine with ice-cream and coffees. What followed was 25 people split into groups of 5 entering Marks & Spencers at 3 minute intervals. A trolley run of all soya foods held up every till while a “you are all in danger” rant serenaded the shoppers. The unimpressed managers called for back-up which came in the shape of 6 cop vans from Shoreham. We even had the very first arrest for a genetics action, for criminal damage to a shirt!
