Grimsby Kids Bulldozed
Local people fighting the re-routing of the A16 at Grimsby are facing new levels of road-building violence. After delaying this project for years, work has now begun clearing the route to allow the A16 to pollute nearby schools properly. Once scheduled to link to the M11, it will now dump its traffic outside one comprehensive, after passing by another, and carving up one of Grimsby’s last green spaces.
Up to 100 school children turned out at the end of April to help stop work, only to find the Birse bulldozers weren’t going to stop. Apparently under orders from the bosses, the drivers just bulldozed trees, hedges and children out of the way, and around 20 of them were hurt. Unfortunately they had no film, and the police and media seem uninterested - where’s a Police Evidence Gatherer (EVG) when you need one!. There have also been 6 arrests for the old Aggravated Trespass chestnut. Offers of help, support and advice would be much appreciated, contact 01472-278 845
