European Genetics Actions

On 26th March German activists hung a giant banner from Cologne Cathedral, “Man is not god”. Meanwhile for more than a week in March Swedish activists had an on-going action against the vegetable oil manufacturer Karlshamns AB. The MV was at anchor just outside the factory but activists had inflatables in the port and a container on the wharf, watching for possible oil shipments. They managed to put pressure on the company, until they gave in - the company will buy GMO (Genetically Manipulated Organisms) free oil. Elsewhere in Europe the beginning of March saw 200 activists visit 6 big supermarkets in towns across Italy whilst in Belgium activists built a 12m long concrete wall (containing GE Soya) at the Main Entrance on the side of Monsanto's name board and erected an 2m high and 26m long stone wall full of “X” blocking the Main Door to the building.
