A55 Euroroute

The 18th March will be the first day of the public enquiry for the second stretch of the A55 Euroroute across Anglesey. The plan is to build a dual carriageway across the marshes, about 500 yards from the existing A5 dual carriageway. It will go through a woodland and a new embankment will be built across the water between Anglesey and Holyhead, yet another SSSI. The Welsh Office has admitted that the road will have a detrimental effect on the Welsh language, as well as local shops and hotels losing trade.

A few Earth First!ers will actually be giving evidence at the public enquiry while others outside will be having the best party ever! To make sure this happens they need you to go along to Anglesey on the 17th to join in the final planning. The Welsh Office cannot afford to build this road so it will go out to the DFBO finance system and it is possible that if ‘they’ see how many people are willing to stand in the way it will seriously put off any potential investors.
