Gwynedd & Mon EF!

Last Saturday Gwynedd and Mon Earth First!ers stormed one of the local Shell garages. A banner depicting a coffin and the slogan ‘the ultimate Shell suit’ was hung from the roof. The petrol was switched off for about half an hour before the attendant realised. Meanwhile all the angry customers were leafleted and many decided to go and fuel up elsewhere. While some people just stood around with banners and others leafleted, the symbolic hanging was staged, a list of Shell’s crimes was read out and people ‘died’, among puddles of blood. When the police finally arrived in a riot van they ended up sympathising and protecting activists from a totally nutty garage owner who had very much lost his cool. He accused them of causing the loss of local jobs - but didn’t seem sure quite how they were doing this. The blockade lasted two hours and they left after writing Shell in blood on the forecourt.
