Somerset Activist Network
Following an initial meeting on 26th October a new network has been set up in Somerset. The Somerset Activists Network aims to link up present Direct Action campaigns around the area providing support and publicity for them. As well as this it also aims to spread information in small towns and villages that are often missed out by the national networks. Joint actions are planned to be organised by several people throughout Somerset rather than just one or two in a particular town.
The first joint action on 9th November saw twenty people shut down a Shell petrol station for two hours in solidarity with the Ogoni people. Another much bigger joint action is planned for December. In addition to all this the network also plans to have a newsletter going next year. The next network meeting is on 18th January.
