Gorleben

On Monday 7th October rail services across much of Northern Germany were sabotaged. Overhead powercables were pulled down with grappling hooks. Campaigners opposed to the transport of nuclear waste by rail to a storage site near Hanover are believed to be responsible.

In May this year thousands of police and protesters fought battles near Gorleben as the arrival of nuclear waste from France was opposed.
