Lyminge Forest

Final planning permission has now been granted to the RANK organisation to go ahead and build a holiday village in this beautiful woodland area. The only legal chance now is the judicial review that is due to be heard in September. Despite RANK’S announcement that they plan to delay construction the work could start at anytime. Surveying work and a small amount of clearance work has already taken place earlier this year. A camp has been set up in West Wood, but only has a few inhabitants. More people are needed for the camp although it is not urgent yet!

As well as this Canterbury saw it’s first Critical Mass in July. Around thirty people turned up to cycle right around the ring-road before going through the city centre. Police responded in their usual style by filming everyone and accompanying them with three police cars and a riot van, but they still failed to stop the ride.
