No M66

Actions against the construction of the M66 near Manchester continue, with a small group of people who regularly go digger diving and crane sitting.

The actions are beginning to aggravate AMEC/MacAlpine, who say they are seeking injunctions against some of the group doing them. The Highways Agency started a propaganda campaign on July 30th/31st at a local school, seeking to ‘explain’ to residents what the M66 construction meant to them. People arrived and picketed the session and at one point noisily occupied the ‘exhibition’ singing songs, chanting slogans and banging on tables.
