Newbury

Nine coach loads of fresh new security guards have recently arrived in Newbury, courtesy of Pinkertons (who have already had their offices visited by protestors). Work on a compound will probably start any day. Already half the Costain sites around the country have been hit, including one in London directly after their EGM on the 22nd of July. Earlier on inside Costain had already undergone a grilling from their own shareholders.

Starting on Sunday 25th August and going on until the 30th there is to be ‘The Newbury Bypass Flim Flam Festival’. On the Sunday there will be a Friends of the Earth Art Bypass event. Bank Holiday Monday there is to be a Mass Route Walk and Pagan Picnic. Then the real actions will start on the Tuesday continuing on until the Friday (and hopefully way beyond). There will be something for everyone to do. As well as this there is Clobber Costain! an International Anti-Costain campaign starting up!
