Earth First! Gathering

The Earth First! Gathering in Wales was an amazing success, with over three hundred people coming for all or part of the week. The feelings of solidarity that even the hardest cynics felt made the gathering worth doing for that reason alone, not to mention the skills that were passed on, discussions had and future directions and activities considered and planned.

An important part of the Gathering’s success was the number of new people who turned up and became involved, which hopefully is a sign that we will break out of the ‘alternative’ ghetto. There were people and groups present from various European countries including Germany, Holland and the Czech Republic, as well as activists from Australia and the USA.

The weather was good all week and the site and surrounding countryside were beautiful, providing a much needed energy recharge for many people.
