Hawks Get Hammered

On January 29th, three women were arrested at the British Aerospace Military site in Warton, Lancashire. They disarmed a Hawk aeroplane with household hammers, causing £13 million worth of damage. The Ploughshares group aim to disarm Hawk aircraft destined for Indonesia - to be used for genocide against the people of East Timor. This was the 56th Ploughshares Action world wide and the third in Britain. Activists take full responsibility for their non - violent actions of disarmament allowing themselves to be arrested. Charged with illegal entry and criminal damage, the women are on remand for four weeks at Risley Prison, Warrington. The trial commences on March 7th at Lytham Magistrates Court.
