Earth First! In The USA
Headwaters Forest in Northern California is a primeval redwood wilderness, home to many endangered species including the marbled murrelet. On September 15th, 2,500 people attended a rally protesting against logging in the area. The rally resulted in 264 arrests. After the rally more than 300 activists set up a camp and began 5 weeks of intensive actions.
In Willamette National Forest, Oregon, 9,000 acres of forest are due for logging at Warner Creek. A camp (Cascadia Free State) and barricades have been established on the logging road, preventing logging since September. New recruits to the camp are needed. 2 activists have gone on hunger strike outside Oregon’s federal building in Eugene.
