Victory In Brightlingsea
From January 1995 live animals were exported through the port of Brightlingsea in Essex. Mass protests against the exports have occurred every day. On Friday 27th October 1995 it was announced that live animal shipment would stop. Over the months, hundreds of protesters have been arrested, stretching police resources to their limit. The exporter, Roger Mills has stopped further exports as the police refused to protect all of his lorries. He’s gone bankrupt - oh dear!
