The Green Party and Friends of the Earth have launched a campaign to promote a Road Traffic Reduction Bill. It would lead to a national and local strategy to reduce traffic by 10% by 2010. The roads lobby, worried by rumours of £1 billion cuts to the roads budget, are busy pressing MPs to maintain or expand the scale of road building in the next budget.
