No M66
Protesters against the M66 (North of Manchester) through Medlock Valley have been camping at Daisey Nook Country Park since July. A new camp and squat have recently been opened up and the first tree house is now up!
On the 18th August 40 local activists closed down the work site for the day. The road to a disused quarry which is being opened up to provide road stone has also been blockaded.
A festival was recently held in Beale Valley.
One protester was recently arrested after opening up a squat, and charged with stealing £50 of gas - he was only in the building for 30 minutes!
There are meetings every Tuesday and a picnic every Sunday from 1pm at the camp in the Medlock Valley. Help is needed, particularly from people with previous experience of road campaigns. There is also talk of an 'amazing action' involving a squat like no other squat!
