Faslane Peace Camp
Over 200 people attended the Nagasaki Action at the Clyde Nuclear Submarine Base, Scotland on August 9th. 35 were arrested for blocking and entering the base, including activists from Europe and New Zealand. The night before the action a torch lit procession to the Trident area at Faslane saw an effigy of the ‘fat man’ bomb being burned on the razor wire.
A week of events and activities included films, interactive theatre at the MoD offices in Glasgow, and a shelf clearance of French products in Marks & Spencers stores in Edinburgh and Glasgow. A demo at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo was met by furious police hysteria, who snatched banners, broke someone’s nose and arrested others. Thanks to all who supported these actions.
Support now needed for ‘ALIEN’ an action to end all wars on 7, 8, 9th October - more info 01436 820901.
