Thanet Way

The A299, Thanet Way, is a Euroroute crossing the North Kent coast designed to provide a faster link to the port of Ramsgate. The proposed route will destroy a vast amount of rural land and also bronze/ iron age settlements. There are 4 occupied houses on the route, 2 of which are facing imminent eviction. Highpoint squat, which has a 39ft tower on the roof, is one of the sites facing eviction and immediate help is needed to barricade! A National Day of Action held on June 1st disrupted work for the whole day. Total arrests under the CJA now amount to 38 but the construction company are 14 days behind schedule. Events include a march and pageant on June 17th and benefit gig on June 24th. Frequent actions. Contact the Blue Route Action Group 01227 770835 / 0378 693157 (mobile).
