Reclaim The Streets

Suddenly, 2 cars crashed in the middle of the street, people appeared from nowhere... jumping on the cars, throwing paint, slashing their tyres,,, And so began an amazing 4 hour street reclamation on Sunday 14 May in central London. The cars, (which were part of the street theatre!) marked the start of the street occupation which included live music, entertainers, a peddle powered sound system and a free cafe. Children played, picnics were eaten and a good party was had by all. The 500 revellers swelled into thousands and the size of the party made it far beyond the control of the police.
