Junior Transport Minister John Watts has decided to rush forward Design Build Finance Operated Road Schemes (DBFO).

The new projects have delighted contractors who are lining up to widen the M40 junctions 1A - 3, for widening of the A30 Honiton to Exeter Stretch, the A564 Dover Bridge Bypass and the A19 Norton to Parkway in Cleveland.

The DBFO plans, extend beyond road schemes into hospitals and prisons. Wimpey Health Care is bidding for 5 general hospitals. Group 4 & Tarmac have combined in a joint prisons venture, as have eCostain & Securicor.
