Innocent? Don't Bank On It...

The Lloyds and Midland Boycott is charging into its fourth year of existence, eager to carry out as many actions against the offending two banks as possible. Bank actions are conducted indoors and so therefore are not really affected by the CJB. What a great excuse to go and occupy your local branch tomorrow! (However, not to worry, it’s already covered by the Public Order Act.) Recent dealings with the banks have shown that LAMB is no longer an irritation to them: It is a major threat. Concerted action now could bring about the concessions on Environmental Lending Criteria and Third World Debt that the campaign has been pushing for. For every £1 given as charity by the British public, British Banks take back £11 in debt repayments.

Eight LAMB activists appeared in court on August 3rd-5th charged with disorderly conduct at an action in Liverpool in March. The trial is currently part heard, and the case for the defence will take place at Liverpool Magistrates Court on the 15th-17th September. However, bearing in mind that the magistrate concerned is intellectually challenged, the eight are as good as guilty already. Oh well. Ring 0161 274 4665 if interested/ inspired.
