Damn The Barrage

Cardiff EF! are continuing to fight against the £156 million Cardiff Bay Barrage. It will totally destroy a natural salt water estuary and replace it with an artificial lake.

Costain, Balfour Beatty and the CBDC (Cardiff Bay Development Corporation, yet another government QUANGO) have been the main targets for actions. So far the offices of the CBDC have been occupied, large banners unfurled from Cardiff castle and a mass trespass occurred on part of the construction site.

A procession through the city to the bay is set for Sat 24th September, assembling outside Queen Street station (opp. the Capital Shopping Centre - a 5 minute walk from the bus and train stations) at 12 noon. There will also be an action to coincide with this. A regular direct action campaign "Damn the Barrage!" begins in October. It will involve as many tactics as they can think of!
