SOS Solsbury
The Department of Roads (DoT) plan to build the £43 million "Batheaston-Swainswick Bypass" soon. This will damage a World Heritage Site, proposed SSSI, AONB, encroach on Green Belt and ruin the setting of Solsbury Hill made famous by the Peter Gabriel song. This 'bypass' is actually part of the A36 Solent-South Wales mega highway.
The DoT have not produced a “non-technical summary" for the scheme, and so have breached EC law. Legal challenges are afoot, but the bulldozers moved in on March 14th, so bodies on the ground are needed urgently. There is a camp - come and help make it bigger and uphold EC legislation.
