M11 Operation Roadblock

The No M11 Link Campaign is about to deliver a fatal blow to the national roads programme with the largest campaign of peaceful protest ever seen against roads in Britain. We're setting up a national rota of one hundred people per day to take part in peaceful protests. You can be sure that if successful the road will be stopped within a month.

The M11 link will cut a swathe of devastation through the East London, displacing 1,000 people from homes in its path. It will not solve congestion: it will bring more cars belching into London, creating new bottlenecks which will require even more road building in years to come. It will mean more pollution, causing diseases from asthma to lung cancer, and environmental damage, from noise to global warming.

The M11 link campaign is an expression of dissatisfaction not just with this Government’s transport policies but its broader agenda on the environment, housing, economic development, and the right to free speech.

Ever since work started, the Department of Transport has suffered an appalling press and huge extra costs. One concerted effort is all that is needed to make them drop the M11 link. Once they do it, other schemes in the roads programme will fall like ninepins.

Get on the phone now and commit your life to join the most powerful demonstration of popular resistance against a road scheme ever known. We’ll send you an information pack about the road itself, the campaign against it, the type of action you might be involved in and what to do when you arrive.
