Fisons to Sell

Fisons have recently announced that they are to sell their peat extraction business!

On Monday 13th April £100,000 damage was done to Fisons peat digging equipment on Hatfield and Thorne moors South Yorkshire. As two of the last four remaining lowland peat bogs in England they are designated as sites of special scientific interest and are home to 25 endangered species. Despite this, Fisons has been digging up five and a half thousand acres of peat.

Whoever disabled the machinery phoned the press association and claimed it the responsibility of Earth First! The press immediately started ringing the Lea Valley office putting us ignorant folk on the spot.

Opinion about the action at the gathering was mixed but it was generally agreed that it was an individual act and that claiming it as the responsibility of EF! was unfair to those in the movement who disagreed with it.
