Four Of The Arizona 5 Get Maximum Prison Time

September saw Earth First! in court in Arizona, U.S.A. The "Arizona 5" trial as it became known was a result of a 3 year, $3 million operation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.). Infiltration by an F.B.I. agent eventually led to the prosecution and conviction of 4 of the 5 for property damage done to a ski resort in a wilderness area of north-east Arizona.

The four received maximum sentences of between 6 years and one year and a day.

The prosecutors, raging propagandists to the end stated that their purpose was to "stop a radical deviant psycho-environment movement".
