Road Kill?

Department Of Transport Knows Best

The Department of Transport is proceeding with road building despite a plea from the EC Environment Commissioner for them to come to their senses over three particular projects.

The Three in question are the East London River Crossing (which threatens the ancient woodland of Oxleas Wood, London -See EF! Autumn Equinox Action Update)., The M11 to A12 link road in East London (threatening over 300 homes and several communities) and the extension of the M3 at Twyford Down, Hampshire. The extension of the M3 will mean the destruction of 2 ancient monuments, 2 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Work on these roads could start any time in the New Year. Earth First! is working with other opposition groups in preparation for confronting the bulldozers. These natural areas and the species that exist within them make up islands of beauty in the largely urban landscape of Britain, they need all the help they can get.

Please get in contact with the Lea Valley Earth First! office to find out how you can get involved in the fight against industrial development.

Stop Press!

Construction is set to start at Twyford Down on the 1st March.

Lea Valley EF! are currently looking into the possibility of an Action camp on or near the area to greet the dozers.

Other actions are being planned both on site and at the contractors offices in London.

Briefing sheets are available from the London office NOW!
