Burma Campaign Takes Off!

At least 8000km2 of Burma's unique Teak forests are destroyed every year making it the third highest rate of deforestation in the world. The military dictatorship has struck a deal with Thailand to log the tribal homelands of people opposing the dictatorship. The funds from logging are used to expand the military and increase its nationwide reign of terror.

The jungle headquarters of the democracy forces has a university and several eager environmental groups. They are starved of resources so the Burma Campaign is helping to set up an Environmental Resource Centre to spread environmental awareness amongst the people.
